Review

About the only thing I know about harp music is that I love it.

On this 28-track album, New Zealand-raised harpist Robin Ward plays works ranging from the Renaissance through to the Romantic era performed on the rarely heard triple strung harp, plus a delightful selection of other more contemporary treats. Fantasia in the Style of Ludovico by Alonso Mudarra opens this impressive CD which also includes pieces by Jan Ladislav Dussek, Francisco Tarrega and Mikhael Glinka. Among the modern songs on the album is a ravishing version of Bewitched by US composers Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. Another is the beautiful Try to Remember, written by US lyricist Tom Jones for the 1960 musical comedy The Fantasticks.
